Well, the camera angle might be the same again but at least the head is in a more foreshortened position. Think I managed to draw it well at that angle too, lets hope the rest of the rendering goes that way too.

The same camera angle again :(

I might as well become an architect
Ah yes, more buildings. This time we are looking down into the earth with the camera titled to the left. As per usual, everything inside the cone of vision circle is not distorted and true to our natural vision, while everything outside is distorted space. There is no set measurements for the increments, so we can give the increments (which go up and down the center line of the cone) any measurement.
For example, if the measurement was set to 8 feet, everything would be relative to that increment measurement. So building #2, which is 4 increments tall, would be 32 feet tall. Building #1 is 3 increments tall, so with that measurement it would be 24 feet tall. We could be using inches (or even a whole new number) if we wanted to, but then these would be less like buildings and more like legos.
One last thing, the actual view distance to the ground, where the center of vision touches the actual ground plane, also follows this increment scaling. So if we use 8 feet like before, we can count the number of increments down from the center point of the circle all the way to the station point (the last dot at the bottom). We multiply that by 8 and that gives us 64, which means that the camera is 64 feet away from the ground it is above.

Stairs are not as hard as plants

Also, I finally finished the stairs diagram. It took a while but it turned out to be really easy and repetitive, even made a quick railing along the side of it. I'm really glad I got the drafting table for this course, I managed to get 5 video lessons done in the same amount of time it took to get 3-4 done in the past, so the value is already paying off. Not worrying about horizontals and verticals really makes the workflow go way more smoothly. That being said, I've already gotten started on the next diagram and will be posting that one tomorrow.

Plants are hard
Now we're getting to the cool stuff. I looked up 'beautiful plants' in google because 1.) I don't know any names of any plants worth remembering and 2.) I thought they would have more elegant and, "beautiful" shapes.
That all sounds kinda wishy washy but I've got to admit, I've never been much of a flower guy but a couple of these were really cool to look at. Indian Pipe and Stargazer lily in particular both struck out to me, the scientific name of the Stargazer lily is Lillium orientalis which is the coolest name for an object period and definitely deserves italics.
These were all pretty hard to do, and I caught myself making a lot of mistakes which I plan to not make as much on the next homework page. Mistakes like messing up the form direction and losing focus of what I was drawing, honestly a lot of it comes from not staying on top of my daily practice as much as I should have been, and some proper sleep wouldn't hurt as well, which I will now get started on.

brush discipline
I have an idea regarding brushwork. I want to do a painting where I can only go down and brush size and not up. So I will start with the biggest brush possible, make all the strokes I need to make at that size, then when I think I am finished with that size, shrink it down a bit and use that, then repeat. I tried it a little bit today and I think it will be a cool exercise.

unfinished shinobu sketch
This is a sketch of Shinobu Oshino from the Monogatari series, I drew something like an illustration of her a long time ago but it was really bad so I wanted to see how far I came since then. Shes not a favorite character of mine in particular but she has an interesting story. Also I did kinda age her up from what she is usually in the show, so it may not look 1 to 1.

Sleep schedule is tragic
Drawing the same thing over and over again will surely make me a better artist. Also, those triangles haven't come in yet :(

In search of the perfect method for drawing
At least, in terms of drawing from imagination, the perfect method probably does not exist. And if it does, it varies from person to person.

easing back into it
Can't call this one a quick sketch, this took a little longer because I was testing out some theories I had in mind regarding proportions and perspective. It may not look much different than my usual stuff but I approached it differently by using just a flat pen with no pressure settings. I also started off by establishing the height of the face then drawing the brow ridge in according to that proportion, which is opposite of what I usually do.

I am ill once again
I am posting late because of my worsening condition of cellulitis. I have a ruptured cyst on the corner of my brow ridge which is dangerously close to my left eye. The eye itself is fine but when I woke up this morning I couldn't open my left eye's eyelids due to the inflammation around the cyst. Almost got rushed to the emergency room by my family since they thought it leaked into my eye but I had to convince them my eye is fine. Depending on the bacteria in the cyst, it could be fatal if it enters my bloodstream, especially with how close it is to my eye which is a bacteria fast pass to my brain.
But, I got prescribed antibiotics, and it seems like it will slowly be on it's way to recovering. Hopefully it makes a full recovery.
I could've opted for getting it surgically removed and get a badass surgical scar on my eyebrow... why I didn't is bothering me...

Late night phone post
Gotta wake up tomorrow for an appointment, so I have to get some sleep early to wake up for it. Today was kind of a a busy day for me so this was the only thing I got done. It's the 4th form I didn't do in the previous viscom post. Ignore the marks in the middle of it, that is ink bleed from copic markers on the page before.

Value Study
Here's a value study that took around a couple hours, definitely a huge improvement to the last post, all in part because of the use of reference. I still have to work out the face and hair

I have lost power
Power outage today due to a thunderstorm, turned off at 2 AM last night and came back on 7 PM today. This is a quick experiment with a new brush I picked up, didn't do any constructing or line work, just went in and painted with the brush, some of the really good artists are good at this, I am not one of them.

I HATE MY ART.psd
Kinda in an frustrated art block right now, usually I focus on something else not art related and come back to art later, but I think I'll try something different and push through it instead. Think of it like rage queuing ranked in league, totally have not done that before. And yes, the post title is the file name of this sketch, although I never heard an artist say that they liked their own work, so I must be doing something right.

passport photo tomorrow
Here's a quick minute gesture sketch with the Pentel AM13. This lead is super smudgy, it's also what I use for the halftones and core shadows on my blobs.

Vis Blobs
Some more VisCom homework, this time I decided to switch it up by darkening the ground and brightening the form shadows, to give the appearance that the form is a brighter value than the ground. Gonna be switching it up with plants soon.

Framed ink is too good to exist
Just a study from framed ink, the edges look horendous because I'm using a completely square brush. These will replace my perspective work until I get those supplies.
