Line Wait

 Just a quick figure sketch from reference, tried to play with line weight towards the end and got some ideas for it going. Also, I've been doing the face drawings, I'll share those tomorrow.

Lately I've been doing the dynamic sketching warmup drills on my wacom tablet, the 4x8 line, arcs, and waves. I do them daily before I start drawing and have been trying to really apply the "see first then draw" principle to things I draw for the rest of the day. Really helps clarify what I want the drawing to end up as vs going with whatever I put on the paper that may or may not be what I imagined.

 Been really trying to find proportions/face designs I've been digging. Mostly been bothered how my bland my eyes look, along with the cheek and jawline. Tried to do a semi-realistic anime style and I'm pretty happy with how the eyes turned out. Sure they don't show form but I think the shape design really sells it. 

 Of course they were not my "invention" however, I just looked around to see how other artists were expressing theirs and I took some ideas from them, specifically the eyeliner. Won't call them eyelids' because of how flat they look, but basically the line never fully connects near the tear duct, and the outside curve always goes up unless the expression or perspective dictates otherwise.

Also, if you haven't used Irfanview before, well you should. I setup a whole library manually on my E drive and sorted all my references out categorically. When Irfanview comes up I press T to bring up thumbnail view and boom, instant reference viewer that's super fast. The PureRef army may be big, but stand your ground and do not falter.

 I passed out at 10pm and woke up at 11:30am because I wasn't ready for bed when I fell asleep, now I'm gonna mess up my sleep schedule again which can NOT happen. Just gonna post this and try to go back to bed.

Faces are frustrating

Just experimenting with face designs, think I'm going to dedicated a bunch of time to getting better at faces. The goal here was to have the same character look different ages through different facial features and shapes. I kind of achieved what I was going for, but a ton of time went into making the faces looking remotely symmetrical. Actually you know what, starting tomorrow I'm going to do a one week improvement marathon for faces and see where that gets me. Also I didn't forget about yesterday's gesture being turned into an actual figure, that will come later.

Alright tennocon was pretty cool

 Watched all of Tennocon today, at least what was streamed on Twitch, and I gotta say it looked way cooler than I thought it would be. Can't say that I entirely agree with the direction they're taking Warframe but I'll stick around and find out. Also got caught up in some other stuff today so I just pumped out this gesture drawing real quick, which doesn't look all too cool by itself, but I'll try turning into a real sketch by tomorrow.

I've been getting good at cooking up faces with 10-20 minutes, but they all kinda suffered from the sameface treatment. Don't worry, this one does too, but I tried to make the proportions more realistic along with actually drawing the lips. Didn't study a ton today but I will tomorrow, going to draw a lot while watching the 10th anniversary Tennocon tomorrow. Never watched one before so it should be interesting.

ZERO PERCENT TALENT

Hey, at least that means, what you're looking at is 100% skill.

I know, I've done it again, go on a no post spree. At least it didn't come as a surprise this time considering my track record. Don't worry I've been drawing daily, but my usual way of thinking just wouldn't let me post. I think "oh, haven't posted a while, this next one has to be really good then", and proceed to never post, let alone a "really good" one. God knows how long THAT would've taken, so once I came to my senses I just started drawing this and here we are.

I've been doing good though. I got back into working out regularly, been drawing what I want to draw, studying not too much but not too little. Been playing Pokemon White recently in my past time, don't think I could ever get tired of that game, unless I tried to. But yeah, things are going well.

By the way I REALLY tried to make this person look like a girl again for the longest, because I started them out that way. Now my eyes can not shake some dude with long hair and a slender frame. Pretty sure I spent more than half the time trying to make them look like a woman again, over the rest of the piece. I just started the head and went with the flow the rest of the picture, the usual late night sketch vibes.
