Didn't even bother saving this .psd file, was over the drawing when I started it.
Just 1 more drawing but it's more kawaii this time, I hope that's how it's spelt because I'm not looking it up.
I drew Saryn Prime, who I think was my first prime frame ever on my warframe account. I remember seeing her with the nikana prime and thought she was super badass. Not to mention OP, she's been S tier mostly throughout her time, but I played her no matter the meta. Also, got a Smeeta Kavat as a new companion recently with some help from a friend, I named her Sweeta (genius I know). She's awesome, she gives me random stuff all the time and often doubles my void traces from relic runs so shes my daily companion now.
Blender's pretty fun, learning the basics at the moment, but I'm not going to make the same mistake I did with 2D art. I'm just going to learn the basics and just jump into what I want to do, I think it preserves more "soul" that way, if you know what I mean.
Saw a post about some artist who managed to pay off their debt with patreon money, all from a drawing about some stoner cat girl. Made me think, "man, I really wish I could make a living off my art." Just enough to pay the bills, the rest would be for coffee and photoshop subscription anyways. Ok, maybe a new graphics card after saving up the cash.
This is just my computer mouse I use, it's the Zowie EC1 or EC2, I forget. It's more difficult to draw than it seems because the grip sides pull in and out on the form differently at the top then they do at the bottom. Looks way better than my previous mice drawings from other mice I've used. I'll see if I have those somewhere, they're probably like 4 years old now.
Also, I've been looking into Blender again recently, and am considering picking up 3D as a medium hobby for art. You'll still be getting 2D art as daily sketches, it's just something I do in my free time.
Had a bit of a break today, don't worry, I'll be working on that piece from yesterday until it's recognizable who its supposed to be, will deliver sometime this month.
hint - her second hairstyle in the game, unavoidable
I noticed all my drawings were super light, I wanted to sketch something up real quick and use a flat opacity. Ended up looking terrible, but at least it's not terrible and gray. Any gray you do see is just some soft brush that erased it.
Just getting something in for the blog again, if you're wondering how the head sketches start here's how they go (but I'm sure you've seen this before).
The edges were done with the selection tool, people seem to use it and get way better first pass results. My shapes end up pretty bad.
All that practice, and when I want to use it for an illustration I just can't find it, very cool art gods.
This is just a thumbnail sketch for something I was thinking about. That is all.
No real maintenance, just what I'm calling my sleep recovery. It's pretty much back to normal, I fall asleep around 10 to 12 pm now, but my body payed for it for sure. My right eye has been twitching off and on now for like 2 days, maintenance is what we're calling it at best lol.
Posting this because it was gonna be more interesting than anything else I had.
I didn't study too much today, been having really bad issues with sleep so I've just been taking it easy to save energy. Yesterday, when I studied a lot, I ended up having a ton of fatigue and passed out on my bed without knowing how, that's how hard thinking is for your boy. So when I get my sleep debt paid off I will push the studying harder.
Also, I should've color coded the drawings. I went back over them and made all the shadows darker so you can tell a little easier which are which.
Going to test out an experiment tomorrow, I have these two glass mason jars big enough to hold a handful of pens. I'm going to have 6 pens set in one jar and the other empty, for every hour I study I put a pen in the other jar
But I remember reading this method from a book about habits, that if you put your progress in a physical form it would be more impactful for keeping track of goals. Simple, and honestly don't really believe it will work, seems too good to be true. But lately I do this mental thing where I try to trick myself I will really enjoy something new anyways rather than being skeptical. Like if there was a dish in front of you that just looked and sounded disgusting, but you thought "you know what, this food is probably really good, and I think I will really like it". Is it cope? Maybe, but I've done it a few times and I think it helped.
Lately having issues with sleep again but I'm just about fixed up. Did some rendering today in 2 layers and ended up being muddy and soft brushy, but it's a good starting point to improve my rendering, as that is what I will be focusing on until my interest goes towards something else art related. Second pic shows some free-handing of drawing methods from Scott Robertson's book, How to Draw. This is preperation for his book I will be studying from, How to Render, I'll see if I can make some results.
working on things™
But for real, working on getting my bearings for painting. Studying more dynamic sketching and drawing from the artist I was studying from, TenTen. Do stay tuned.
This is just a sketch of Gara Prime, I stayed up roughly 24 hours so I need some sleep, we'll make stuff tomorrow.
I've been doing a ton of modeling and rigging in Blender recently but haven't really been drawing much. I average about 35 hours a ...
